Like its cousin, the blue Morpho Peleid, Polyphemus belongs to the Morfeed family. Unlike most Morphids, whose wings are bright blue with overflow, the White Morpho feature is white wings with a discreet pattern of wavy lines and eyes. They are more clearly visible on the underside of the wings. The butterfly is named for the one-eyed Cyclops Polyphemus, a character in Greek mythology.

The name is given because of the eyes located on the underside of the wings. Very unusual gentle coloring, similar to angel wings, makes this butterfly one of the favorites for photo shoots. Lives long enough, in the framework of our exhibition there were specimens that lived for more than 1 month! But most of them live about 3 weeks.

White Morphida Polyphemus is usually a bit more intimidating to its Blue relative Morpho Peleida, but with careful handling it is given on her hands and you can easily take a picture with her. It feeds like other morphids with overripe and stray fruits, you can also give fresh ones, the main thing is to make sure that the flesh of the fruit is always fresh cut and moist, so that the butterfly can suck the juice with its proboscis.
